Grand-Mtis, July 28 2010
. Les Jardins de Mtis(Reford Gardens) is proud to be a Feature Garden on the 2010 VIA Rail Garden Route, Canadas first national Garden Tourism initiative, said Alexander Reford, the gardens director.

Until September 6, when you visit Les Jardins de Mtis, visitors are invited to fill out a ballot for a chance to win a round trip for two in VIA First Class to Ottawa and the Canadian Tulip Festival in the spring of 2011.

Now in its fifth year the VIA Rail Garden Route program highlights 18 of Canadas most magnificent Feature Gardens; Communities in Bloom destinations from across the country and a growing number of local garden attractions along VIAs main Halifax to Vancouver Island network.

With such a superb variety of gardens and communities from which to choose, travellers can marvel at Canadas splendid scenery while enjoying a relaxing and comfortable train trip to their Garden Route destination and then partake in a self-guided tour of the Feature Garden and local garden attractions.   Another option is to choose a Garden Route travel package from a number of VIA Getaways within the Windsor to Qubec City corridor.

Youre in good company
If youve ever wondered about the future of Canadas public gardens, youll be pleased to know that it is indeed bright.  The latest Travel Activity and Motivation Study prepared for federal and provincial tourism ministries states that visiting a botanical or garden theme attraction while on a trip is among the top 10 culture and entertainment activities undertaken by Pleasure Travellers in Canada.

In 2006, the most recent year for which statistics are available, this equated to more than 26 million adult Canadians and Americans visiting the spectacular gardens of Canada while on an out-of-town trip of one or more nights.

Les Jardins de Mtis is pleased to welcome our Garden Route visitors whether they come from around the corner or across the world to be our guest.
