Discover the Gardens in Winter
5th Annual Winter Wonderland Visit on March 7 and 8

Grand-Métis, February 12, 2015. Les Jardins de Métis are opening the Gardens to the public for the 5th annual special winter visit on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 from 12 noon to 4 pm.

Given the popularity of the event last year (where more than 750 visitors strapped on their snowshoes to wander the winter gardens), it did not take much to convince us to host the event over two days this year. The first event in this year at the Reford Gardens, Winter Wonderland allows visitors to see behind the cedar hedges and discover the beauty of the gardens in winter.

With the help of the Metis Beach School, snowshoes will be available free of charge (quantities are limited). Heritage Lower St. Lawrence  partners with Winter Wonderland every year as part of its mandate to promote healthy practices for the region’s residents, Francophone and Anglophone, and to encourage outdoor family activities.

Saturday, March 7
: Winter croquet. Take part in a match of winter croquet, the sport of the English upper classes. Instead of summer whites, participants should don their snowshoes and boots. The croquet lawn is in front of Estevan Lodge; the games begin at 1 pm.

Sunday, March 8: Enjoy a dog sled ride offered by Pascal Paquet d’Aventure pattes blanches from Saint-Ulric-de-Matane. From noon to 3 pm in the Meadow near the administrative offices.

Rest Area: Chef Pierre-Olivier will prepare his delicious recipe of hot chocolate prepared over a bonfire. For those seeking a warm snack, sausages from the Meilleur pour la faim from Sainte-Luce will be served up on a winter BBQ ($$$).

Share Your Photos: You are encouraged to share the photos of your favourite garden moments and to share them on social network #jardinsmetishiver (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

Cost: $2.50 per person (14 and over), free for children 13 and under.
